Process

This hoodie starts with yellow scrap fabric which I cut a scull logo from. I then appliqued the previously mentioned logo onto a 3 yard roll of white french terry fabric. Once the logo fabric is attatched to the french terry it is then submerged into a boiling dye-bath (in a plastic tub inside my bathtub in my appartment). After the fabric is churned for a constant 45 minutes it is then run through multiple clean water rinces to remove excess dye. Once the clean wash is done the fabric is hung and dried for atleast 24 hours before steaming, marking or cutting can begin. This garment is made up of 16 sperate pieces fabric pieces excluding wash and size tags.

This was my second dyed hoodie. The splotches come from me wanting a darker green and trying to add black dye midway through the bath. I learned that darker colors must be mixed before the bath begins. When darked dyes are added mid bath it does not disperce, instead it simply sticks to whichever piece of the fabric it hits first.
